HELLO LHS Classmates of 1959 !

July 16, 2014: A New Message from our President:

Joe Clark and the Reunion Planning Committee would like to remind all class members that The Lodge (Old Elk's Home on Main St. hill) has been reserved for Saturday, October 11th, 2014 for the Class of 59's  55th Reunion. Doors will open at 6:00 PM. Cost is $28.00 per person (reduced from $30.00). We will have a buffet dinner w/ a cash bar. Dress is casual, but no tee shirts, tank tops, shorts, or flip-flops. Cloverleafs are acceptable.

He said that the 55th Reunion will be simple and straight forward, no contests, no talent shows this year.  Just meet, greet, catch-up and have good conversation. You may want to come a few days early and visit our famous Fairfield County Fair and the Hale Hollow Hootenanny on Friday night, the evening before (October 10th). Ask Tillie or Alan for additional information about the Hootenanny.

Please send Tillie an e-mail by September 20, 2014 indicating that you are planning to attend the 55th Reunion Dinner so Joe can provide a head-count to The Lodge manager for ordering the appropriate number of dinners, tables, and chairs, etc. Joe expects a big turn-out this year.

Please advise your "e-mail-less" classmates of LHS times about this announcement, or better yet, print-out and give (or mail) them a copy of this announcement the next time you see them. And even better still, give them a visit and a copy of this announcement.

RSVP to: Tillie's e-mail address:  tilliephilo@sbcglobal.net
She will answer some of the questions you may have in her follow-up e-mail to you. Should you not receive her e-mail:

Please send your check made out to %LHS59 55th Reunion to:

Mrs. Julia Brown-Farmer

March 2, 2014: A Message from our President, Hon. Joseph T. Clark:

"I have secured the Lancaster Lodge (formerly the Elks Home) for our 55th Class of 1959 Reunion. The date is October 11 , 2014, Saturday night, beginning at 5:30 PM (last day of the County Fair). It will be VERY SIMPLE! You can expect liquid refreshments and dinner; no bands, no dancing, no disk jockey, no entertainment, no prize drawings, no door prizes, no table favors, no extravagant decorations, no program, no fancy dress, no loud talk, no medical history or medication update; ONLY kind and generous memories, catching-up and lots of laughing at ourselves. As we use to say, 'Be there or be square'"

Rumor has it that Joe has begun to think about the 55th Reunion to be held in 2014, and that the planning committee will be re-forming soon...

You will note that there is a form which you will need to copy or print and return with your registration. So, should you not have a printer or not be able to get it printed, just write the needed information on paper and send it to Jack Klinker.

If you have any questions, just send me an e-mail.

I look forward to seeing you,

Alan Hale, Chairperson
halehollow@att.net

For a copy of the invitation, see: Reservation Letter

Hey Classmates!
October 6, 2012, at The Depot, S. High St., Lancaster. Doors open at 7:00 a.m. for all day and evening relaxation and enjoyment. There will be "things" to do, or you can choose to just chat with friends while enjoying great food and drink. The only pre-planned event will be golf for all who want to join the fun.

The committee has discussed having some board games, a sing-along, a euchre tournament, large screen tv, tours of the many wonderful museums in Lancaster, a van to Hocking Hills, BUT has opted to offer our help to you and your friends who want to plan any trips or specific games. You will have a warm, dry place to meet/greet/eat and stroll down memory lane in the manner that suits you best. Around September 5th, you will be receiving a letter with all the information and your reservation form. Please return your reservation so you can enjoy the first Halftime Homecoming.

Class Golf Outing

We will be playing next Saturday, August 22nd at Pleasant Valley Golf Course on Coonpath Road, located between Rt. 158 and Rt. 37. They are hosting another group in the morning and do not know at this time when that group will be off the course, but it will be between noon and 1:00. They suggest that we plan to be at the course by noon, ready to go as soon as the carts are available. When we originally set things up with the course we thought we would have a larger group and they would start us off with a "shotgun" start, where we would all start (and end) at the same time, starting on a number of different holes. That may still happen, which will work best for us so we can finish as early as possible. In any event, Pleasant Valley is a short course, not much rough, the prizes??? are not that great, so we will move right along!!!!

September 23, 2008 - A Message from the Former Vice President:

Phil reports on the planning to date:

“In addition to fund-raising, I'm in charge of the LHS '59 Talent Show and hope that many of our talented classmates will sign up to strut their stuff… piano, voice, magic, comedy, violin, dance, duets, trios, quartets, even a choir, puppets, felt-board stories, female wrestling, etc. at the reunion next summer. One football coach said we were the least athletic class in all his years there, and one principal said we were the smartest class in all his years there. So, we've got to have some talent, if not ideas.

Stay tuned to LHS59.org, it's happening.

July 16, 2008 - A Message from the Former Vice President:

"Howdy Fellow Classmates……..

I'm on the planning committee of our 50th reunion [the dates will be August 21-22, 2009]. I'm writing you to ask if you could make a donation so we can do this one big. We need some advance funds to cover some of the planned events, and I thought of you and others who may be interested. Could you make a nice gift for our reunion?

We've talked about some possible activities that might cost a little more than usual. Rentals, mainly, but also other possibilities.

If you'd like to make a handsome gift for the enjoyment of all our classmates, you can make out the check to : LHS Class of '59. Send it to me for the time being and I'll get it to the right person.

My address is: 475 Haymore Avenue South, Worthington, OH 43085

Thanks."

June 25, 2008 - A Message from the President:

"About 10 people met on May 13th as the 50th class reunion committee at the Elk's Home. We decided to set the date for the 50th reunion for August 21, 22, 2009, a Friday and Saturday. We decided to make the class officers the honorary chairpersons for the reunion. We are looking into places to have the reunion presently and have secured the Elks Home for both nights as a possiblillty. I will be checking on other places i.e., Eagles, Moose, and Cheers Chalet. Phil Hazelton has agreed to chair the talent show; Tom Hammer has agreed to chair a golf tournament; Helen Azbell will chair the Chinese auction again, and we are still looking for chairs for decorating and registration sub-committees. Our next meeting of the reunion committee will be held July 15th, 11:30 AM at the Elk's home on Main Street."

Joe Clark

"The 2009 Class Reunion Committee will be meeting Tuesday (May 13, 2008) for the first time. Phil Hazelton has graciously agreed to chair a committee considering a talent show portion of the evening's activities on Saturday. Helen Azbell will be doing the Chinese auction again so she will be looking for any donations to be auctioned off. We will be setting a date and place for the reunion.

Tom Hammer has kindly agreed to chair a golf tournament for everyone if the committee decides to have a golf tournament. If any of you have some thought for a date and time for the reunion, I would appreciate your letting me know so I can share it with the others on the committee. Any other suggestions would also be appreciated.

This Class Reunion can be the best ever if you all participate. A sense of humor seems especially important as we get older and more things than not don't seem so important as in years past.

Life is gooooooood!"

Joe Clark

Reunion of 2004, October 15th and 16th (here).
